Does the program follow any syllabus?

There is almost an infinite amount of mathematics topics in courses throughout Australia, New Zealand and the world. The program has been designed to cover as much as is common to mathematics throughout the various states and countries.

The research and development team continually monitors changing curriculum throughout Australia and elsewhere to ensure that new topics are developed as required.

How does the maths program work?

The program uses free format algebra so that all approaches to answering a question are accepted provided they are correct.

Each line of an answer is monitored and, provided it is mathematically correct, is accepted. However, should a line be mathematically incorrect the child is given a red light and is not allowed to continue until the error is corrected. Should a child produce a line in a solution that is not incorrect but is leading nowhere the child is given a yellow warning light. Voice is used to explain topics clearly as is diagrams.

Many questions contain examples of how to do the question. Many contain hints that assist the child to start the question. In many cases model solutions are given to assist students to compare their solution to a model solution. Students can print the questions or the question and their answer or the question and a model answer for future reference.

Using free format algebra allows questions to be randomly generated so that if a student redoes a topic to further improve their understanding or to revise work at the beginning of a new year or to prepare for an assessment, they will get new questions each time.

TESTIMONIALS Testimonials

On my 7 year old daughter's first try at the maths programs she said "I'm learning so much today. I love myself!" Despite good school reports for maths, I hadn't realised that she still wasn't proficient at pretty basic concepts. After a little initial frustration she really started to 'get it' and became more excited as she realised that she had learned something. The program helps me guide her, know how to explain concepts and which order to work through things in. It's surprisingly easy to get the kids to sit down and do their 20 minutes on the program.
